2 Skinnee J's - rockin' and rappin' and having a damn good time

These guys were in our neck of the woods in 1999 - rare because our music scene sucks. And they never came back - not so rare because no one ever does. But they put on on hell of a kickass live show and at the internet archive you can download 22 shows by them, almost all of them soundboards.

Here is their reunion show from 2005 (yes, they have broken up).

(to the band: I apologize for that show you played here, I took a couple of my friends and they both had horrible gas. We were standing right next to the stage so I know you guys had to have smelled it!)

David TMX - A l'orée d'un siecle en bois Music

David TMX - A l'orée d'un siecle en bois

French heavy metal band from Jamendo. Hard to believe that this is free. Only one catch though, you have to use bit-torrent to download albums from Jamendo - not a big deal if you already have it installed or even if you don't but it is not as easy as clicking an html link and just downloading.

You can easily listen to the entire album before downloading though so I encourage you to at least do that.

Some really obscure psychedelic... get it quick

From the Closet of Curiosities blog comes this lost gem:

Head

(Click the link above to get to the Rapidshare link. It will expire after a certain period of inactivity.)

Released on Buddah Records so if you are a psyche fan you know it will at least be interesting.

JACOPO ANDREINI - e il grande vetro

Taken from the excellent k-7 heaven blog, a blog devoted to preserving the old tape-only labels of the 80's and 90's:

JACOPO ANDREINI - e il grande vetro
An odd sort of thing this one. Some Italian guy warbling in a muted, very lo-fi kind of way, mixed with some noisy experimentalism. From the rather wonderful Destroy All Music label in 1993.

Go to the blog to find a download link for this and many other oddities.

I have to warn you though, this is definitely experimental music....

Get a new (used) Ipod for Christmas?

I know lots of people got Ipod's (or similar) for Christmas. I also know that you could spend $20,000 on ITUNES just trying to fill it up. But who wants to do that? In this blog I will offer legal (or at least quasi-legal) free alternatives to fill up your MP3 player without spending a penny. Of course you won't get the newest Britney Aguinewkids top 40 hits but there is a world of wacky goodness out there just waiting for you to discover it.

About me - I have been listening to MP3's since they were MP2 (early 90's) and have had numerous MP3 players (Creative Zen XTRA, flash players, and now a 40 gig IPOD). I am interested in anything but country and western music - and the more obscure the better.
